A French press needs no electricity, no paper filters and no skill, just coffee and hot water, and it makes a rich, full-bodied cup. How to brew with the French press
- Warm: rinse the French press with hot water, then pour it out.
- Dose: add about 23 g of coarse-ground coffee (around 3 level spoonfuls) for a full 350 ml press, a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio.
- Pour: add hot water (about 93°C, just off the boil) and stir gently.
- Steep and press: put the lid on, wait 4 minutes, then press the plunger down slowly and pour.

Grind: coarse is best for French press
We recommend coarse grind for this set, because it gives a clean cup and doesn’t clog the filter. You can also choose whole bean (if they have a grinder) or a normal or fine grind for other brewers.
