Quick answer: The Philippines has 10 dated regular holidays and 8 special (non-working) days in 2027 under Proclamation No. 1427, signed September 8, 2026. Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha will be added as regular holidays by separate proclamations. Three regular holidays fall on a Saturday (May 1, June 12 and December 25), so a Monday to Friday office loses 12 weekdays to dated holidays in 2027, down from 16 in 2026. Pay rules are in DOLE Labor Advisory No. 17, s. 2026: 200% for work on a regular holiday and 130% on a special day.
Key takeaways
- Regular holidays in 2027: January 1, March 25 and 26 (Holy Week), April 9, May 1, June 12, August 30, November 30, December 25 and December 30, plus the two Eid holidays once proclaimed.
- Special (non-working) days: February 6, March 27, August 21, November 1, November 2, December 8, December 24 and December 31. February 25 is a special working day.
- For a Monday to Friday business, 2027 has 249 ordinary working days after dated holidays, 4 more than 2026 (245), because 6 holidays land on a Saturday.
- At the NCR-28 minimum of ₱755, a regular holiday pays ₱755 unworked or ₱1,510 for 8 hours worked. A special day worked pays ₱981.50.
- Seven long weekends of 3 or 4 days need no leave. Three leave days from December 27 to 29 turn Christmas into a 10-day break from December 24 to January 2, 2028.
Many of the offices and cafés we supply plan their staffing and pantry orders a year ahead, and the first question each October is which days are off. This guide lists the 2027 dates from Proclamation No. 1427, counts how they fall in the week, and applies DOLE’s 2027 pay rules at the Metro Manila minimum wage. It is a plain-language summary and not legal advice. For a specific case, ask your DOLE field office or a labor lawyer.

Special days follow the “no work, no pay” rule unless a company policy, practice or CBA gives more. The proclamation keeps four special days and adds four more, the same pattern as 2026. February 25, the EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary, stays a special working day, which DOLE treats as an ordinary working day.
| Day | 2027 date | Day of week | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chinese New Year | February 6 | Saturday | Additional special (non-working) |
| EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary | February 25 | Thursday | Special working day |
| Black Saturday | March 27 | Saturday | Additional special (non-working) |
| Ninoy Aquino Day | August 21 | Saturday | Special (non-working) |
| All Saints’ Day | November 1 | Monday | Special (non-working) |
| All Souls’ Day | November 2 | Tuesday | Additional special (non-working) |
| Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary | December 8 | Wednesday | Special (non-working) |
| Christmas Eve | December 24 | Friday | Additional special (non-working) |
| Last Day of the Year | December 31 | Friday | Special (non-working) |
How does 2027 compare with 2026?
Both years have the same 18 dated holidays. What changes is the weekday. In 2026, 16 of them fell from Monday to Friday, one on a Saturday (Black Saturday) and one on a Sunday (All Saints’ Day). In 2027, only 12 fall on weekdays and six land on a Saturday: May 1, June 12 and December 25 among the regular holidays, and February 6, March 27 and August 21 among the special days.

Both years have 261 weekdays and 313 Monday to Saturday days. Take away the dated holidays and a Monday to Friday office has 249 ordinary working days in 2027 against 245 in 2026. A Monday to Saturday business has 295 in 2027 and 296 in 2026, because no 2027 holiday falls on a Sunday. The two Eid holidays will take away more days once their dates are known.
Saturday holidays matter for payroll. A worker on a Monday to Saturday schedule still earns holiday pay for an unworked May 1 or June 12. For daily-paid staff on a Monday to Friday schedule, the Omnibus Rules do not say a regular holiday that falls on a rest day can be skipped, so confirm your treatment of the three Saturday regular holidays with DOLE or your payroll adviser before you budget.
What are the long weekends in 2027?
We counted every run of three or more days off that needs no leave, assuming a Saturday and Sunday weekend. There are seven. Two more become long breaks with leave days.
| Dates | Days off | Holidays in the run | Leave needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| January 1 to 3 (Friday to Sunday) | 3 | New Year’s Day | None |
| March 25 to 28 (Thursday to Sunday) | 4 | Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday | None |
| April 9 to 11 (Friday to Sunday) | 3 | Araw ng Kagitingan | None |
| August 28 to 30 (Saturday to Monday) | 3 | National Heroes Day | None |
| October 30 to November 2 (Saturday to Tuesday) | 4 | All Saints’ Day, All Souls’ Day | None |
| December 24 to 26 (Friday to Sunday) | 3 | Christmas Eve, Christmas Day | None |
| December 30 to January 2, 2028 (Thursday to Sunday) | 4 | Rizal Day, Last Day of the Year | None |
| November 27 to 30 (Saturday to Tuesday) | 4 | Bonifacio Day | 1 day (Monday, November 29) |
| December 24 to January 2, 2028 | 10 | Christmas Eve to the Last Day of the Year | 3 days (December 27 to 29) |
What are the holiday pay rules for 2027?
DOLE Labor Advisory No. 17, s. 2026, issued September 30, 2026, sets the pay rules. They match the rates used in 2026. The table applies them to the two Metro Manila minimum wage rates under Wage Order NCR-28, which took effect September 26, 2026: ₱755 for non-agricultural workers and ₱718 for agriculture, retail and service establishments with 15 workers or fewer, and small manufacturers with fewer than 10 workers.
| Day type | Rate | At ₱755 | At ₱718 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular holiday, not worked | 100% | ₱755.00 | ₱718.00 |
| Regular holiday, first 8 hours worked | 200% | ₱1,510.00 | ₱1,436.00 |
| Regular holiday that is also the rest day, worked | 260% | ₱1,963.00 | ₱1,866.80 |
| Overtime hour on a regular holiday | 200% × 130% of the hourly rate | ₱245.38 | ₱233.35 |
| Special (non-working) day, not worked | No work, no pay | ₱0 | ₱0 |
| Special day, first 8 hours worked | 130% | ₱981.50 | ₱933.40 |
| Special day that is also the rest day, worked | 150% | ₱1,132.50 | ₱1,077.00 |
| Overtime hour on a special day | 130% × 130% of the hourly rate | ₱159.49 | ₱151.68 |
| Special working day (February 25) | 100%, overtime +25% | ₱755.00 | ₱718.00 |
To get regular holiday pay without working, the employee must work or be on paid leave on the workday before the holiday. If that day is a rest day or a non-working day, DOLE looks at the workday before it. For Holy Week, DOLE’s handbook says an employee absent on the day before Maundy Thursday may not be paid for both days unless he or she works on Maundy Thursday.
Who is covered by holiday pay?
The holiday pay rule in the Omnibus Rules and DOLE’s 2023 handbook excludes government employees, retail and service establishments regularly employing fewer than ten workers, kasambahay, managerial employees and members of the managerial staff, and field personnel whose time is unsupervised. A small café with fewer than ten staff does not have to pay for an unworked regular holiday. Premium pay for work on special days and rest days has a different coverage list in the handbook, and it does not include the small retail and service exclusion.
What do the 2027 holidays cost an employer?
Here is the math for one Metro Manila worker at ₱755 a day on a Monday to Saturday schedule. Ten dated regular holidays paid but not worked cost ₱7,550. If the worker is on duty for all ten, holiday pay for those days is ₱15,100. Working all eight special days adds ₱1,812 over ordinary pay (8 × ₱226.50). At ₱718, the same figures are ₱7,180, ₱14,360 and ₱1,723.20. The two Eid holidays add ₱755 each when unworked.
DOLE’s handbook converts daily rates to a monthly equivalent with day factors that assume 12 regular holidays and 8 special days, which is also the 2027 count once the Eid holidays are proclaimed. At ₱755, the 365-day factor for monthly-paid staff gives ₱22,964.58 a month, the 313-day factor for workers paid Monday to Saturday gives ₱19,692.92, and the 261-day factor for Monday to Friday gives ₱16,421.25.
How should HR plan for the 2027 holidays?
- Load the dated holidays now. Enter the 18 dates above in your payroll and timekeeping system, and leave two placeholders for Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha.
- Decide your Saturday treatment. Six 2027 holidays fall on a Saturday. Write down how you pay daily-rated staff on those days and confirm it with DOLE or your adviser.
- Plan duty rosters for the long weekends. Holy Week (March 25 to 28) and All Saints’ (October 30 to November 2) are four-day runs, and December has two.
- Budget premiums for December. December 2027 has two regular holidays (25 and 30) and three special days (8, 24 and 31). Staff on duty all five days cost more than five ordinary days.
- Watch for added days. Local holidays and later proclamations can add special days. Check the Official Gazette and DOLE advisories through the year.
